House Season 5 Shocker: Why did Kutner Die?

TV 11 Comments »

Dr Lawrence KutnerWhile the death of Dr. Lawrence Kutner from the hit-show House was a total shocker to fans young and old, the real question was WHY he died. The most straight-out answer is that he shot himself and committed suicide. The big question though, is whether he really did kill himself or if he might have been murdered. By whom, how, and why, is the question I’m sure everyone is dying to find out in the next episode.

Kal Penn, of the big screen hit comedy Harold and Kumar, is NOT dead in real life. It’s funny how many House fans thought that he did when I tried looking through the Net to figure out why they killed him off. I guess it speaks volumes of how good he was able to portray his character that his death in the show actually had people believe that he could have died in real life. So again, Kal Penn is alive but Dr. Lawrence Kutner is definitely dead.

So the big question is, WHY was Kutner killed off the show! The answer is actually pretty simple. Kal Penn had been actively campaigning for President Obama back in 2007 to 2008 and contributed largely in energizing the Obama Express with his blogs and other social media tools. His loyalty has been aptly rewarded now as Obama offered him the position of Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Liason.

The Cast of House Season 5

That’s quite an honor isn’t it? So as livid as we all are that he’s been killed off in House (and this show will never be the same without him), it’s very nice to see an actor like Kal Penn be rewarded like he has. Outside of that, let’s see how the producers of the show move the storyline on the cause of his death! You can find the link to download the 20th episode of House in HD, as well as the transcript of the interviews done by Kal Penn as well as the creator of the show David Shore and one of the producers in Katie Jacobs, and Fox’s memorial shrine of Dr. Lawrence Kutner.

Marc NelsonIt has always been a rather “touchy” but funny issue when you hear of guys who would take care of themselves more than what is in the norm. Guys who would take more time grooming themselves with something more than just a comb and gel and those who would actually put moisturizer and under-eye cream on their faces to improve their everyday look! But guys who do these things used to be called GAY, even if they really weren’t, but when shows like “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” came out, it revolutionized the way the modern man looked, and it totally changed the way a lot of men and even women behaved.

Metrosexual was the new buzzword at the time, but now it’s a word people use and recognize everywhere. Guys who would take longer than women to prepare or have daily routines of grooming like putting wax or clay on their hair or even shave that almost-uni-brow or arch off their eyebrows, aren’t always labeled GAY anymore. What a relief! Ha ha! Now we’re, err… THEY’RE called metrosexual… and it’s a much better term, right? :-)

So with the maturity of the modern man and woman, a lot of magazines and shows have popped up educating the public on how to better themselves in terms of how they look and act even more. And while channel-surfing this morning, I chanced upon a very appealing looking show called “The Duke” on AXN. The show’s tagline… “So what makes a REAL man?” Indeed, what does?

The Duke on AXN!

The talk show is hosted by a Singaporean girl named Eunice Olsen and the 2 Clunks (apparently means clowns and hunks, hehe) who finished 2nd in the Amazing Race Asia last season, Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez. Both are ridiculously funny and are “typical” of the modern man today. The show was very entertaining, to say the least, and it explores a vast majority of topics like politics, sex, finance, wellness, but more importantly about the finer things in life in a smart, sophisticated, and stylish manner. And the Duke, as the same suggests, is about men that stand a class above the rest. And who wouldn’t want to be in that class? :-)

The show premiered on AXN last February 9, 2009, and airs every Monday at 8PM (SG/PH time).

Prison Break Season 4 Episode 16 Season Finale: The Sunshine State

TV No Comments »

The Prison Break Season 4 Finale called “The Sunshine State” was released a few days ago and it surprisingly ends on a rather intriguing note. I expected a dull ending just like the last season but this seems quite interesting and as a fan, it’s a really good sign because I’m actually hoping that this isn’t the end of this series, when a few episodes ago I wanted it to die a natural series death and end decently.

Gretchen left for Dead

The treatment given to Michael was apparently a success but he also had to go through some doctor who seems to know his mother and tells him that she is alive! Michael does not believe him but is very confused after all the things that were said to him and shown to him. The question is what the purpose and intent of this doctor really is and as usual, there is an underlying purpose to his prodding. Lincoln is back with a different team to try and find the guy who took Scylla… and they do. In the same instance that they find the guy, everything goes wrong again and shots are fired, and guess who is shot… finally! The end of the episode has Lincoln getting a call from the phone of the guy who stole Scylla back from them and it turns out that the person calling the shots is his mother. Nice twist for next season, if there is one!

Prison Break Season 4 Episode 15: Going Under

TV No Comments »

The latest episode of Prison Break has Michael finally “Going Under” as he succumbs to his illness. But Lincoln is forced to work for the same Company he tried so hard to bring down as “payment” for Michael’s treatment. There is definitely an underlying family matter connected to all this and it is very curious what role their father played in the Company. What’s even more intriguing is that we all think “Scylla” is the Company’s evil box of secrets, but it could be the total opposite and actually be something for the greater good…

Sucre Leaves

The question of what “Scylla” actually is has never really been talked about but in this episode we get a better understanding of what it might actually be. Sucre finally breaks and decides to quit in the pursuit of Scylla while Agent Lang is forced to bring his good friend Mahone in. Her friendship is tested in the worst situation possible and has to shoot Mahone before he escapes. And lastly, the actual buyer gets a hold of Scylla and runs off with it while shooting Don Self. Much deserved. This 15th episode is pretty decent with quite a few question marks and makes the last episode of this year a must-watch.

House Season 5 Episode 11: Joy to the World

TV No Comments »

This is a tad bit late but here is the 11th episode of House. This is a little pre-Christmas episode called “Joy to the World, where the team tries to diagnose a bullied young girl who mysteriously collapses at her school’s Christmas jingle presentation. The story revolves around a “fat” girl who is able to hide her secrets because of that fact and she feels that no one seems to care. But there is a pretty good message being sent across to young kids who are in this situation today and I’m pretty sure this kind of dilemma is pretty rampant especially in the US. Not a very happy ending though, which is how it should be because reality IS that way.

Thirteen-Foreman liplock
Meanwhile, House gets a special gift that he seems to be very familiar with, while Wilson’s role seems to have diminished very significantly even if he still is in the show. Here’s a hope to see more Wilson-centric episodes soon, the funnies with him and House are missed sorely. And lastly, Thirteen tries to convince a Huntington’s patient who left to come back because Foreman was turning into House already. Foreman is confronted by Thirteen and that’s where everything goes ick. There’s just something that looks really wrong with the Foreman-Thirteen lip locking and it is very bothersome, he he, but that’s how they are driving the storyline. Not a very good episode for me, so I hope the next one (Christmas episode?)  is much better and there’s no more Foreman-Thirteen kissing scenes. Blech!

Prison Break Season 4 Episode 14: Just Business

TV No Comments »

Prison Break episode 14 called “Just Business,” finally sees Michael’s illness catching up with him. Just when you thought the Team has finally pulled it off, another setback happens, and the biggest one at that. Surprise surprise. This show just never runs out of problems and it looks pretty clear after this episode what the second half of the season is going to look like. And I don’t think it’s going to be a good thing anymore…

Agent Self comes after the Team for the missing piece to Scylla, and he finds an ingenious way to figure out where Michael is hiding it. T-Bag is still Self’s guard dog as he holds Gretchen’s sister and daughter captive. A “Bible Seller” comes to visit and turns in quite a good sequence with T-Bag. And of course, Michael finally gets a hold of Scylla and makes a run for it. Unfortunately, just when you think it’s finally over, he ends up on the floor and after a few minutes, he’s unconscious with the General’s doctors looking at him. Then Lincoln is forced to go back to what got all this started in the first place. The latest episode of Heroes can be downloaded below in HDTV.
